29 March, 2005: NMG Announces Northern Gateway Vision.
On Tuesday, March 29, 2005, NMG held a press conference announcing the Northern Gateway Vision. Supported by Niagara District Councilmember Dominic Bonifacio, 144th Assemblymember Sam Hoyt, and Jeff Belt of the Baird Foundation, NMG envisions an International Gateway as part of the Peace Bridge Expansion Project. The Vision allows for restoration of the surrounding Olmsted Park System (Front Park, Fort Porter, and Porter Avenue), and minimizes negative impact on the community. All parties are formally requesting the Public Bridge Authority include this vision as an alternative in the current Environmental Impact Study.
