NMG Calls for Signature Replacement Bridge, Calls PBA Process Into Question.
On April 27, 2004, NMG's Transportation Action Group held a press conference in Buffalo's Front Park to bring public attention to the state of the Peace Bridge expansion process. NMG members were joined by Assemblyman Sam Hoyt and the Landmark Society in calling for a single Signature Replacement Bridge instead of a mis-matched companion span.
The group called into question both the PBA's cost estimates for companion/replacement bridges and the claimed historical significance of the old bridge, and cited the lack of creative vision in the design choices to-date. The event was well-covered by most local media. For more information, download our press release and graphic (PDF format, 716 KB).
Park Buffalo! Is this The New Millennium Group's newest walking tour of Buffalo? Download NMG's press release & parking survey map regarding the parking situation in Downtown Buffalo (PDF/Acrobat format, 1 MB). Read the Buffalo News article.
The continuing parking saga includes another good article entitled Lack of sense, not parking, ails downtown by The Buffalo News' esteemed columnist Donn Esmonde (November 7, 2003).
NMG Supports Sam Hoyt and the FHWA in regard to Peace Bridge Eminent Domain.
See what the media and the Public Bridge Authority may not be telling you. Click here to see clearly why the PBA is not yet required to acquire the dangerous powers of Eminent Domain.
Furthermore, before the citizens surrender their most valuable trump-card, NMG believes that the details of Eminent Domain need to be worked out and agreed to in public.
Giving the PBA Eminent Domain at this point may spell Imminent Doom for many residents of Buffalo's West Side, or elsewhere along the Niagara River. Note: The FHWA is the "lead-agency" of the environmental process for the Peace Bridge Expansion Project. See the following links for more information.

- Page one and page two of a letter from Hoyt to FHWA asking for confirmation of PBA's position on Eminent Domain.

NMG Supports Kids Day.
The New Millennium Group joined the many volunteers in selling Kids Day
newspapers to benefit Women's and Children's Hospital of Kaleida Health.
NMG Board Members Will Gengrich, Chris Gengo and Bryan Miller braved the
bitter cold temperatures on February 25th selling newspapers at the Niagara Street
I-190 exit near Virginia Street. NMG Kids Day volunteers sold 330
papers and raised a total of $448.
Proceeds from the special editions, which cost $1, benefit Women's and
Children's Hospital of Kaleida Health, the Robert Warner Rehabilitation
Center and other local charities that serve children. Kids Day is conducted
in conjunction with the Variety Club Telethon, the annual fund-raiser for
services and equipment at the hospital; Robert Warner Rehabilitation Center;
and other charities dealing with children.
